Legendary actress Diane Keaton has died at the age of 79, US media reports.

There are no further details at this time and her family has requested privacy, a spokesperson told People magazine, which first reported the news.

Keaton rose to fame in the 1970s with her role as Kay Adams-Corleone in the Godfather films, also appearing in Father of the Bride and its sequel in the 1990s.

She won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1977 for her performance in Annie Hall as the titular character, one of several collaborations with Woody Allen.
