Manchester United are planning an audacious £60million swoop for Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton.
United head coach Ruben Amorim has been closely monitoring Wharton’s development and is said to be a big admirer of the 21-year-old midfielder, who has emerged as one of England’s brightest prospects over the past year-and-a-half.
Wharton made his move to Palace from Blackburn in 2024 for a fee of £18m and has since played a crucial role in what has been the most successful period in the club’s history under Oliver Glasner.

His contributions have been instrumental in Palace’s FA Cup victory and their qualification for European competition.
With both Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro expected to depart Old Trafford next summer, Amorim is looking to bolster his midfield options.
He believes that Wharton possesses the technical skills necessary to thrive at United, reports the Daily Star.
Palace, for their part, have shown a willingness to sell their top players if the price is right.
United are confident that an offer around the £60m mark could tempt Wharton to make the switch to Old Trafford next summer.

Wharton, who has earned one cap for England, was a surprise addition to the squad that reached the Euro 2024 final. However, he was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s recent squad.
“He just gave me a message saying I’m playing well, I’m close and I deserve to be there but he’s going to stick with the same team,” Wharton revealed.
“That’s football, I’m not too fussed about that. I can take the time off, go see my grandparents, and it’s not the end of the world as there’s another camp next month. My focus is on Palace and if that goes well then England is just a bonus.
“Nothing is expected. England have some top players and he’s got a lot of players to choose from. No matter who he picks someone is not going to get in and there will be a fuss about it.
“I can’t sit here and cry about it, this is football and I’m happy playing for Palace and getting minutes. I’ll keep knocking on the door and if I’m in, I’m in and if not I’ll carry on.”
