The incident took place on Tuesday and has left the local community “extremely shaken”, according to the Lopar mayor.
“It is an understatement to say that we are all extremely shaken,” said Zdenko Jakuc.
“When the helicopter landed, everything stopped. We all looked at the sky and hoped for the best.”
According to 24 Sata, the girl’s dad was overheard shouting “my daughter is dying!” as he knelt over her after the fall.
One witness of the incident told local media: “The waiter had just brought me coffee. When we heard crying and shouting, we thought the child had drowned.
“Then we saw a man carrying the child on the side. A doctor from Slovenia happened to be there and immediately came to help.”
The doctor then performed CPR before the young girl could be airlifted to hospital.
The waterpark’s owner, Josip Ivanic, said, according to Jutarnji: “It’s a tragedy for us, for the family, for everyone.”
The police have said that authorities will continue to investigate the circumstances of the girl’s death.
