Medals dating back to World War II have been returned to the soldier’s family more than 20 years after they went missing in Melbourne.
Officers from Boronia in Melbourne’s east say they acquired the six medals.
And while the soldier who was awarded them has now died, they managed to find his son.
He lives in Patterson Lakes in Melbourne’s south-east.
“Acting Senior Sergeant Paul Phillips personally delivered the medals to the owner’s son earlier this week, who was extremely grateful,” police said on Facebook.
“The family had not seen the medals for over 20 years, and they are now returned to their rightful custodians.”
