Jack Roslovic only just signed as a free agent in Edmonton, but now Elliotte Friedman has revealed he may be on the way out long before the trade deadline. After a long summer, Jack Roslovic finally found his NHL home a few days into the 2025/26 campaign, officially signing with the Edmonton Oilers after speculation that they were interested earlier in the off-season.
Roslovic is yet to make his debut with the team, but after putting up 22 goals a season ago with the Carolina Hurricanes, in the right role in Edmonton, Roslovic could be a star for this team.
Roslovic’s Days in Edmonton Already Numbered?
However, on the latest episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman dropped a major bombshell, revealing that when Zach Hyman comes back, there will be a decision to be made on Roslovic, and if all parties aren’t happy, there’s a chance that he could be traded to one of the teams on his four-team list.
November 1st…about the time Hyman comes back, it becomes a 4 team trade list; it’s almost…a trial to see if everybody’s happy here, and I assume the teams on that list are the teams that were also looking at him.
With the Oilers off to an up-and-down start, they’ll love the injection of Roslovic’s talents down the lineup, likely on the third line, and if he finds a role and some chemistry there, there’s a great chance that he stays beyond not only the trade deadline, but this season.
Ultimately though, with Friedman even bringing this up, it’s got Oilers fans wondering about how this season will play out, and while it’s unlikely they trade Roslovic so soon, there’s always a chance that if it doesn’t work out, they try to move on sooner, rather than later.
