The estranged wife of Newcastle United and England defender Kieran Trippier was compelled to alert the police after burglars tried to break into her £2million mansion.

It’s thought that criminals attempted to force entry with a vehicle by ramming it into her home’s electronic security gates before then trying to pry them open with tools, as reported by The Sun. Charlotte Trippier, who parted ways with Kieran last year, shares three children with the 35-year-old footballer.

In relation to the incident, Cheshire Police confirmed that “suspicious activity” was under investigation at Charlotte’s mansion in an upscale part of the county.

The report indicates officers were reviewing CCTV footage from neighbours to see if anyone suspicious in the area was captured. A spokesperson stated:

“We have received a report of suspicious activity at an address and are making enquiries to establish the circumstances.”

Charlotte was reportedly left shaken by the attempted burglary and has since bolstered her security measures.

Earlier this year, Charlotte provided an update on her wellbeing on social media after moving out of their shared home in the North East, reports the Mirror.

In the video message, she expressed:

“Obviously I’m not ready to talk about my situation. In time I will, when I’m comfortable and the time is right.

“Also, I have three young children so I don’t want to put things out there for them to see.

“It’s not that bad,” she added when offering support for followers going through a similar situation. “The sparkle does come back… you’ll get there.”

The Newcastle United defender, meanwhile, is currently in his third complete campaign at St James’ Park following his switch from Atletico Madrid in January 2022.

He’s been a crucial regular under Eddie Howe in recent seasons, though he’s been compelled to accept a more limited role lately.

Setbacks to first-choice full-backs Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento have resulted in his playing time rising once more, though.

He’s notched up seven starts this campaign, including two in the Champions League, despite missing out on selection for Thomas Tuchel’s England squad this month.

Trippier has now moved into the final 12 months of his three-and-a-half year deal that he penned upon his arrival, with his future plans remaining uncertain.
