Scunthorpe United has been drawn to travel to Blackpool in the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup, with ties scheduled to take place on the weekend of Saturday, November 1st.

Currently managerless after parting company with Steve Bruce, the Iron will travel to Bloomfield Road to take on the League One side, currently sitting in 23rd in their respective division.

It will be the first time the two sides have met for nearly six years, with the last encounter coming in the EFL Trophy back in November 2019. On that occasion, United progressed in the competition winning 3-1, with goals scored by Kevin van Veen and Abo Eisa (two). The Seasiders’ goal was scored by Joe Nuttall, another former Iron player.

The two sides have met four times in the FA Cup in the past, firstly in January 1961, when the Iron won 6-2; the first ever meeting between the teams. That would be followed up in 1987-88 with the last FA Cup encounter at the Old Show Ground ending goalless before Blackpool won the replay, while the Seasiders would progress in the competition a year later too, winning 2-1 on home soil in November 1988.

As soon as the fixture is set, along with ticket prices, we will announce.
