It seems that Andrew Garfield’s webslinger character has finally ushered in the end of an era, passing the Spider-Man mantle to Tom Holland forever.
Contrary to the rumors that Garfield will reincarnate his character Spidey after stealing the show alongside Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Garfield bluntly debunked the fate of The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

In an interview with GQ, while answering fans’ questions on TikTok about his Spidey return, he said, “It’s not happening and I don’t believe it ever will, but sweet of you to want it to happen.”
Following in the footsteps of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, fans were first introduced to Garfield’s Spidey in 2012. Though the movie was praised by fans, it received a lukewarm reception from critics, earning a 71% RT score. The sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, released in 2014, wasn’t much of a crowd-pleaser, earning a 50% RT score.
What next? The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was still on the cards, but the Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios agreement to swing Spider-Man into the MCU threw Garfield’s character into flux.
The actor also made a very clear statement about returning in Avengers: Doomsday, saying, “No, unequivocally fucking no.” So much for his Doomsday rumors.
Andrew Garfield will next be seen in projects like Luca Guadagnino‘s upcoming feature Artificial, among others.
