Rivka Buchbut, wife of captivity survivor Elkana Buchbut, said in a statement from Sheba Medical Center that “my Elkana is good, but nothing is simple and nothing is as it appears from the outside. During the past months, Elkana did not receive food, as was apparent in the released videos. He endured abuse and great suffering, and before his release, he was given large amounts of food so that he would look a bit better for the world, which was against the requests of Israel and international organizations. Because of this, Elkana is currently suffering from stomach pains and bloating, but I am certain that my heroic husband will be able to slowly return to good health thanks to the medical care and his inner strength.”
