Vancouver Police have made an arrest in connection with a series of seawall stabbings late last week that sent multiple people to hospital.
In a statement, VPD said the suspect is a 35-year-old woman who was taken into custody in the Downtown Eastside around 4:20 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13.
The arrest came just one day after VPD made a public plea for information on Sunday afternoon and as more victims have come forward to police.

VPD had released images of the suspect to the public and asked anyone who recognized the woman to contact police immediately.
“These assaults were violent and unprovoked, and as long as this suspect remains at large, we fear the community is at risk,” said Sergeant Steve Addison in a previous release. “It is our highest priority to quickly identify and apprehend this person.”
VPD officers responded to reports of multiple people being stabbed near David Lam Park shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10.

Three victims were located and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the area before police were called.
VPD also announced that four additional assault victims have contacted them, including another stabbing victim, someone who was physically assaulted, and two more people who were not physically injured.
The victims, five men and two women, range in age from 23 to 59 years old.

“There may be additional victims we don’t know about, or witnesses who have important information that could help solve this case,” added Sergeant Addison in a statement. “We’re asking anyone with information to call our investigators.”
