Air Canada has announced it will double the number of trips made between the Region of Waterloo International Airport and Toronto’s Pearson Airport to 10 starting Dec. 1.

The Landline Company’s service allows people to park and check into their flights at the region’s airport, then a coach bus takes them to Pearson for their flights. People can book the bus trip when they book the tickets for their flight.

Rizwan Qadir, a spokesperson for Landline, said since launching the service in May 2024, they’ve heard from customers who enjoy the service, but said they needed more trips to match up with their flights.

“By doubling frequency to 10 trips per day, travelers can now mix and match schedules to fit their outbound and return Air Canada flights more conveniently,” Qadir said in a release.

Ranbir Singh, director of regional airlines and markets at Air Canada, said in the release that the company has been “very satisfied” with the number of people using the bus service from the Region of Waterloo International Airport.

Regional Chair Karen Redman said more service to and from the local airport is a “welcome investment.”

“This expansion gives residents more choice and reason to choose YKF,” she said in the release, referencing the airport’s three digit International Air Transport Association code.

“Doubling the frequency strengthens Waterloo region’s global reach and opens new doors for our residents, businesses, and visitors alike. We are committed to providing travellers with more accessible options.”

Departure times will change slightly due to adding more trips, with the first bus leaving the region’s airport at 5:30 a.m. and the last one leaving at 8:25 p.m. Buses from Pearson airport will begin bringing people back to Waterloo region at 7 a.m. daily, with the last trip of the day at 10:15 p.m.
