Durham Regional Police say they have arrested a man who offered rides to women before sexually assaulting them in Whitby.

According to police, the first reported incident occurred on Aug. 17, 2024 at around 11:15 p.m.

Police said officers were called to the area of Wentworth Street and Thickson Road South for a report of a sexual assault.

The victim, investigators say, was in the area of Quebec Street in Oshawa when she was approached by a man who offered her a ride. The victim was taken to an industrial area in Whitby where she was sexually assaulted, police allege.

On Jan. 12, 2025 at around 4:05 a.m., another assault was reported in the area of Victoria Street East and Thickson Road South. Police said a victim was in the area of Simcoe Street South and Hall Street in Oshawa when she was offered a ride.

The suspect, police allege, drove the victim to the area of Moore Court and Williams Smith Drive in Whitby, where he sexually assaulted her.

On Oct. 14, 2025, more than a year after the first reported incident, a suspect, identified as Ravi Tirbaney, a 39-year-old Scarborough resident, was arrested in connection with the incidents.

He was taken into custody without incident, police noted, and is now facing two counts of sexual assault.

“Police have concerns there are other victims,” police said in a news release issued Wednesday.

A photo of the suspect and the suspect vehicle have now been released.
