Bob Malcolm believes Kevin Muscat could do a similar job at Rangers to the one Ange Postecoglou did at Celtic.
The former Australia international is a prime target for the Ibrox club in their search for a new gaffer.
Muscat has enjoyed success as a manager in his homeland, as well as the J-League in Japan.
Previously, he was an assistant to Postecoglou and is a disciple of the ex- Celtic and Tottenham boss.
Malcolm – who won a Treble alongside Muscat at Rangers in 2003 – believes Muscat’s style of play would go down well at Ibrox just like Ange’s did at Parkhead.

He said: “Since Muscy’s been a manager, I’ve met up with him a few times in Glasgow.
“I’ve spent a bit of time with him and the way he wants to play is definitely the right way.
“He wants his teams to play attacking football.
“Of course, he likes to keep possession but if it’s on to go forward, he wants to play forward.
“He’s not interested in making 500 passes then getting a throw-in at the end of it.
“It’s possession with the purpose of attacking and scoring goals.
“That’s always the aim and if you look at Muscy’s teams, they’ve all scored goals.

“That’s what Rangers need right now.
“His style is probably similar to big Ange’s when he was at Celtic.
“He’ll obviously have his own ideas and it will be slightly different.
“But I hope he gets the job because I’ve watched his teams and they’re exciting.”
