A woman was left with a gash above her eye after neighbourly relations turned sour between two Caversham residents.
Police were called to South Rd at 6.30pm yesterday after reports of a ‘‘verbal altercation’’ between the 32-year-old woman and the 45-year-old man, Sergeant Matt Lee, of Dunedin, said.
They found the woman bleeding from a cut above her eye.
She told officers at the scene her neighbour had assaulted her after the pair got into an argument.
Police found the man at a neighbouring property and he was arrested.
The man was charged with assault and would appear in Dunedin District Court at a later date.
