An urgent recall has been issued after shards of glass were found inside a popular pickled jalapenos brand available at major supermarkets in Australia.

The recall was issued on Wednesday for 470g jars of Fehlbergs pickled Sliced Jalapenos Chilli Medley.

The product has been available for purchase at Coles and Woolworths, as well as independent retailers including IGA nationally.

The recalled products are marked with the best before date of April 30, 2028.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) issued the recall with Riviana Foods Pty Ltd after their product was found to contain “the presence of foreign matter” found to be glass.

Food products containing glass may cause illness or injury if consumed.

“Consumers should not eat this product,” FSANZ said.

“Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”

Fehlbergs Fine Foods is an Australian owned food company the specialises in pickling and established in the early 1980s.
