Today, the European Commission and the High Representative have unveiled a new strategy to strengthen ties between the Union and its Southern Mediterranean partners through the Pact for the Mediterranean. The Pact marks a major step forward in regional cooperation and aims to create a Common Mediterranean Space that is connected, prosperous, resilient, and secure.

Based on the principles of co-ownership, co-creation, and joint responsibility, the Pact will focus on joint solutions to shared challenges, from clean energy and economic development to migration and regional security.
