The three largest labor unions in the United States – United Auto Workers (UAW), Communications Workers of America (CWA) and American Federation of Teachers (AFT) – have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, claiming it monitors social media accounts of visa holders and revokes visas based on criticism of Israel. According to the lawsuit, artificial intelligence is being used to identify critical posts, and the definition of “supporting terrorism” is being applied to cancel visas of those expressing pro-Palestinian views. The State Department said that the US “is not obligated to allow foreigners to spread antisemitic hatred or encourage violence”.
