Hundreds of thousands of electrical outlets that were sold in Canada have been recalled due to a potential fire hazard, officials say.

Health Canada said in a notice Thursday that consumers should “immediately stop using” the product.

“The terminal screws on the product may not tighten properly, which may create an increase in temperature, posing a fire hazard,” officials said.

Around 664,000 of the outlets were sold in Canada from 2015 to May 2025.

“As of July 9, 2025, the company has received 812 reports of screws that were faulty, stripped or unable to be tightened, one report of fire resulting in property damage, and no reports of injuries in Canada,” the notice said.

The recall involves three white-coloured models of Electrical Devices Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) safety outlets with plates, Health Canada said.

They were sold at Home Hardware.

Health Canada said the outlets have “TR” stamped on the front and the letters “LGL” on the back.

“The item number is located on the bottom left of the front of the product packaging. The model number is located on the bottom left of the product and may only be visible by removing the decorative wall plate,” officials said.

The UPC number can be found on the product packaging, either on a side sticker or near the bar code.

Consumers were advised to contact Unison Ridge to get instructions on how to uninstall the outlets and return them to Home Hardware for a refund.

Unison Ridge can be reached by phone at 1-877-857-3879, by email at [email protected] or on their website.
