Hold on to your hat! It’s going to be a windy one in parts of the GTA to on Sunday afternoon.
Just after 11 a.m. this morning, Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the City of Toronto, Burlington – Oakville, Caledon, Hamilton, Halton Hills – Milton, Mississauga – Brampton, Newmarket – Georgina – Northern York Region, Niagara Falls – Welland – Southern Niagara Region, Pickering – Oshawa – Southern Durham Region, St. Catharines – Grimsby – Northern Niagara Region, Uxbridge – Beaverton – Northern Durham Region, and Vaughan – Richmond Hill – Markham advising of a brief period of “gusty southwesterly winds for some areas.”
The national weather agency said a line of showers along a cold front could produce wind gusts of 70 to 85 km/h.
“(They) can toss loose objects, break branches off trees, and may result in some power outages,” Environment Canada said.
The special weather statement has since ended.
