Emergency services have responded to an incident at an Islamic school in Sydney’s west following reports of a bomb.Â
Al Hikma College students and staff were evacuated from the school on the corner of Canterbury Road and Haldon Street in Lakemba shortly after 10am on Monday.Â
They were directed by police to a safe location as Fire and Rescue NSWÂ crews and specialist police units arrived at the scene.
A staff member at the school told the Daily Mail the matter was being handled by police and students had since returned to their classes as of 1pm.Â

Traffic in the surrounding area was heavily impacted, with Canterbury Road and adjoining streets closed to ensure public safety as authorities carried out their investigation.
Officers from Campsie Police Area Command established an extensive exclusion zone in the area while members of the Riot Squad and bomb detection dogs conducted a detailed sweep of the premises.
