Why do we need to live like this? Why am I not supposed to receive my son for burial just as others received theirs for hugs?” Hagit, the mother of fallen hostage Itay Chen, said: “From the moment they announce there’s a handover of hostages, we enter a state of anxiety. You sit and wait for the most terrible news you could receive and then you’re disappointed when you don’t receive it. It’s not humane to be in such a situation.”
