A 27-year-old man from Toronto is facing several charges after a victim was seriously injured during a “suspected hate-motivated” incident in the city’s west end.

It happened on Oct. 14 near Bloor Street West and Lansdowne Avenue.

Toronto police said they attended that area just after 7 p.m. after receiving a radio call.

Investigators allege a person was crossing the street when a female occupant of a vehicle allegedly directed anti-South Asian slurs at them and verbally threatened them.

A male occupant of that vehicle then allegedly exited the vehicle and threatened and physically assaulted the victim, police said.

The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for serious injuries.

Jordan Odel Auld, 27, of Toronto, has been charged with uttering threats, assault cause bodily harm, and assault. He was scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 20.

The female suspect remains outstanding.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is asked to contact Toronto police at 416-808-3500 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
