One person has died following a crash in Co Down, the Belfast Telegraph understands.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) received a 999 call at 12:33 on Monday shortly after the collision in Comber.

One emergency ambulance was despatched to the Ballygowan Road area of the town alongside a hazardous area response team and the charity Air Ambulance.

A NIAS spokesperson confirmed no one was taken from the scene.

The PSNI previously advised road users that the Ballygowan Road has been closed due to a “serious road traffic collision”.

“Diversions are in place at the junction of the Old Ballygowan Road and the junction with the Hillsborough Road,” a spokesperson added.

“Please seek alternate routes for your journey.”
