MINNEAPOLIS — A man was killed early Friday morning after police say a gunman fired multiple shots at the victim following a conversation with him inside of a vehicle in Minneapolis.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, the victim, believed to be in his 30s, was in a vehicle speaking with the alleged suspect near Franklin Avenue and Lyndale Avenue South at around 2:30 a.m. At one point, authorities say the suspect got out of the vehicle and fired shots at the man, striking him at least once.

When officers arrived, police say the suspect had fled the scene and they immediately began CPR on the victim. The man was transported to HCMC, where he later died.

“We as a community cannot accept this violence and tragedy as normal,” said Chief Brian O’Hara in a press release. “Investigators are working diligently to follow up on leads and learn what led up to this tragic shooting. If anyone has any information about this tragedy, please provide it to our investigators.”
