The Toronto Blue Jays just might pull this thing off.

After falling behind 2-0 in the American League Championship Series to the Seattle Mariners, many were quick to count the team out.

But the Blue Jays themselves weren’t part of that group.

On Sunday night in Toronto, it was 22-year-old starting pitcher Trey Yesavage who helped will Toronto to its biggest win in 32 years, pushing the team within one game of the World Series.

Yesavage went 5.2 innings, giving up two runs while tossing seven strikeouts along the way.

In just his sixth career MLB start after jumping through the Jays’ minor league system, the rookie pitcher had plenty of praise for the Toronto fans.

“This was the most electric, energized crowd I’ve ever played in front of before, and the team rallied behind the fans, and they were a huge motivation for us,” Yesavage said postgame in his press conference.

Toronto’s 6-2 win sets up a winner-take-all Game 7 at the Rogers Centre, in what’s sure to be another sold out, raucous atmosphere.

“It’s special here. Postseason baseball in Toronto is different,” Yesavage told Fox Sports postgame.

But while Yesavage seemed to keep his cool, the same couldn’t be said of his skipper.

“My emotional state has been a frickin’ mess for months, man, to be honest with you,” Toronto manager John Schneider admitted. “I’m just calling it what it is. This is fun. I can’t wait for [Game 7], I wish we were playing right now… you never know who is going to come out on the right side or the wrong side of it. Today, we did.”

When is Game 7 between the Blue Jays and the Mariners?

First pitch is set for Monday, Oct. 20 at 8:10 p.m. at Toronto’s Rogers Centre.

Toronto starter Shane Bieber will be on the mound, while George Kirby will get the ball for Seattle.

“Everybody’s excited. Everybody knows that we can be ourselves. Shane Bieber’s going to go out there and give us everything he has, and then we’re going to let our defense work, offense do its job, and then got a fresh bullpen for tomorrow, which is huge,” Yesavage added.

A win would put Toronto in the World Series for the first time since they won back-to-back titles in 1992 and 1993, while the Mariners are searching for their first-ever World Series berth.

“I mean, it’s a do-or-die game. It’s win or go home,” Blue Jays infielder Addison Barger said in response to a question asked by Offside following the game. “So we understand that. And it’s just kind of the same thing going into tonight. We come up with a win, but that doesn’t matter [for Game 7]. [Monday’s] about winning the game and going out and playing our best.”
