Tributes have been paid to ‘an exceptionally kind man’ who died in a workplace accident in Ennistymon in County Clare on Thursday.
Joe Crosse (46) from Ennistymon is understood to have suffered life-threatening injuries following a fall.
The incident took place around 10am on Thursday July 24th in Ennistymon.
Locals described Mr Crosse as an exceptionally kind man who had raised thousands of euros for a number of different charities.
Paying tribute the Lahinch Playground Project said: ’’ We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Joe Crosse Ennistymon.
“Joe was kind enough to help us raise funds for the playground back in 2014 when he did a 100 mile run around Clare. He has also been known and respected by so many in the community and surrounding areas for his kindness of fundraising for charities. We send our sincere sympathies to the entire family’’.
Last year Mr Crosse took part in a solo relay for life run for the Irish Cancer Society and raised thousands of euro.
Locals described him as an exceptionally kind man.
One said: “A wonderful decent man and community person. Great tradesman and shocking to learn of his tragic fall.”
Another said: “Joe was a sound fella. He used to come into spar most mornings for his coffee and 3 sausage rolls or a filled croissant with ham and cheese. Rip to a lovely person.”
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified and is investigating the matter. A garda spokesperson said that a man in his 40s suffered life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.
