Fredericton police have identified remains found in the woods Monday as those of 28-year-old Montana Solomon.
They said they are investigating Solomon’s death as a homicide. No one has been arrested.
The update came on Tuesday, a day after the remains were found near Two Nations Crossing on the north side of the city, and foul play was suspected.
An autopsy is pending, but a news release from police said there is no concern about public safety in this case because the homicide was believed to be “isolated.”
They did not answer a question about how long ago the woman is believed to have died.
Police said they would not be releasing any further details now.
