The bill proposed by Noam party leader Avi Maoz to apply sovereignty over Judea and Samaria was approved in a preliminary reading in the Knesset plenum, despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s directive for coalition members to vote against the bill. Likud MK Yuli Edelstein voted in favor. 25 MKs voted in favor, 24 opposed. According to the bill, it will be determined that the law, jurisdiction, administration and sovereignty of the State of Israel will apply to all settlement areas in Judea and Samaria. The bill will be forwarded to the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee for discussion.
