One suspect has been arrested, and two more are wanted after an exchange of gunfire left a woman seriously injured in Scarborough last month.

It happened in the area of Fred Bland Crescent and McCowan Road, north of Eglinton Avenue East, on the evening of Sept. 17.

Toronto police said a man and a woman met outside and soon noticed two unidentified individuals standing on the corner.

The individuals allegedly opened fire on both of them and fled. Police said the man pursued them and allegedly returned fire.

The woman was later taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

As part of the investigation, members of the Gun and Gang Task Force searched a home near McCowan Road and Trudelle Street and found a loaded semi-automatic handgun as well as several rounds of ammunition, police said.

Police said they do not have descriptions of the two outstanding suspects at this time.

They are asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 416-808-2510 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or at www.222tips.com.
