ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey says his son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren are dead after a helicopter crash Wednesday evening.
Bailey shared the news on Facebook October 23, saying the helicopter crash happened the night of October 22 in Montana.
According to Bailey, the crash killed his son, Zachary, his wife, Kelsey, and their two young children, Vada Rose, age 12, and Samuel, age 7. Their other 10-year-old grandson, was not involved in the crash.
Bailey, who is making a second run to unseat Governor JB Pritzker, was scheduled to be in Freeport last night for the annual Lincoln day dinner, but it is unclear if he attended.
No further details on the crash or investigation have been released at this time.
