A Carrickmacross father said he cannot describe the level of humanity shown to him and his family as searches continue in Galway today for Conor Harrington.

The 20-year-old was last seen at the Salmon Weir Pedestrian cycle bridge in Galway city at around 9.30pm last Wednesday.

The Harrington family are appealing for volunteers to continue the search, with people meeting daily at Galway Bay Sailing Club in Renville (H91W678) in the hopes of finding Conor and brining him home to Carrickmacross.

Conor’s family said they “couldn’t have been prouder” of the 20-year-old was a second year law student at the University of Galway.

His father John spoke of his “giving nature” stating that anyone who knew Conor, knew that he always loved to put others first, whether that was friends, family or giving to charity.

Speaking to Northern Sound, John said there’s “no such thing as a bad idea” when it comes to ways people can help locate Conor and bring him home to Carrickmacross.

John told Northern Sound: “Over the last week we’ve been searching but unfortunately we’ve had no luck so far, not even a trace of clothing. Any eyes that sport anything at anytime is hugely valuable to us in finding Conor and bringing him back to Carrickmacross. The type of technology that people can use really is unlimited and I can’t stress the importance of people out doing shore walks and keeping an eye out for anything.”
