The search for a Derry man has been stood down following the discovery of a body.

Seamus Quinn, aged 63, had been missing since Tuesday morning, October 21 and Derry City and Strabane police had issued a Missing Person Alert. Mr Quinn was a popular teacher at Loreto Secondary School, Letterkenny.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland this afternoon confirmed the appeal was then cancelled

An Garda Siochana has since stated: “Following the discovery of a body, the missing person appeal for Seamus Quinn (63) who was reported missing from Derry since October 21, has been stood down.”

A Facebook group, titled Help find Seamus Quinn, was set up by the family and Seamus’s daughter Caitlin posted: “Thanks for all your help in sharing posts, sharing the messages around and searching for our daddy. Sadly, the search has now been called off. Our wonderful husband and daddy has been found. Totally heartbroken.”
