A man has been charged after he allegedly tried to import a child-like sex doll from China.

Australian Border Force (ABF) officers intercepted a parcel addressed to the 54-year-old man in September 2024.

Inside the box was a child-like sex doll, with police executing a search warrant at his home in Innaloo, Perth the following month.

Three more child-like sex dolls, a mobile phone, laptop and other items were seized.

The seized devices were forensically examined and police allegedly found child abuse materal on his laptop.

The man was charged with one count of attempting to possess a child-like sex doll, three counts of possessing child-like sex doll, and one count of possessing child abuse material.

The maximum penalty for each of these offences is 15 years in prison.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) Acting Inspector Fleur Jennings said the dolls were “far from harmless” and that there was evidence that these kinds of dolls contributed to an increase in offending against real children.

“The AFP will pursue any form of child exploitation or activity that encourages or reinforces the sexual abuse of children, which includes using items such as these dolls, which are legally classified as child exploitation material,” she said.
