Shortly before 8.40am today (October 24), police received a call from a member of the public reporting a body located in the Morfa area, near to Dawson Drive.

At 1.20pm today, the 18-year-old was arrested in the Coniston Drive area of Prestatyn on suspicion of murder, and he remains in custody.

Police are not actively searching for anyone else in connection with the woman’s death.

The woman’s age has not been disclosed as formal identification has yet to take place.

The coroner has been informed, and investigations are ongoing at the scene.

Extra police officers remain in place across Prestatyn today, which will continue into the weekend to provide reassurance.

Superintendent Lee Boycott, of North Wales Police said: “I can confirm that we are not actively looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and I would like to reassure the community that there is no evidence to suggest any wider risk to the public.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death, and we are continuing to ask people to avoid the area.

“Increased patrols will remain in place today and throughout the weekend to ensure our communities feel safe and reassured following this incident.

“I would also ask that people do not speculate about the incident online and report any concerns or information to officers at the earliest opportunity.”
