Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes scored a late goal to secure a crucial 2-1 win over Fulham. After a period of possession and a few half-chances from Fulham, the Magpies took the lead at the 18-minute mark. The opening goal came when Murphy intercepted Calvin Bassey on the right and finished his chance.

Murphy missed a golden opportunity to double his team’s lead when he botched a one-on-one despite being in an almost identical position. Fulham levelled when Brazilian substitute Kevin sent a cross down the left and Raul Jimenez hit the bar before Sasa Lukic headed home. However, the match turned in Newcastle‘s favour at the death when substitute William Osula broke through and forced Bernd Leno into a low save. The ball rebounded to Bruno who blasted it home in the 90th minute to secure the three points.
