A man in his 60s has died while working at a farming property owned by prominent farmer John Nicoletti in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt.
Emergency services were alerted to a workplace incident about 12:30pm on Saturday in Merredin, about 260 kilometres north-east of Perth.
A St John WA spokesperson said two ambulance crews attended the scene, but a 63-year-old man was confirmed dead when they arrived.
Worksafe has been advised of the incident, and investigators are heading to the scene.
Mr Nicoletti, who had previously been dubbed the “grain king”, told the ABC he was alerted to the incident by a contractor who was building silos on his property.
The fatal incident was first believed to have occurred at the Merredin CBH site.
CBH area manager Jerome O’Malley said staff had to redirect emergency services to the neighbouring farming property.

“The ambulance initially rocked up at the [CBH] sample sheds because obviously they heard there’s an incident involving grain … then we directed from there,” he said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
