Here are the ratings from Manchester United’s 4-2 win over Brighton at Old Trafford.
Could’ve done better on the first goal, but another composed performance. He’ll have to work on little things, but his fundamentals look sound.
He’s starting games because he’s more reliable than anyone else in that role, but he doesn’t offer much going forward and still has a lot of careless moments.
Had some trouble against Yankuba Minteh. Will probably be in and out of the side all season, depending on the opponent and situation. Still a player developing his game, and that’s fine.
Looked comfortable for the most part. The changes disrupted the game’s momentum.
Solid before going off. Just needs to stay fit.
He’s back in form and seems to have built some chemistry with Bryan Mbeumo. There’s an electricity about that flank now.
A goal and an assist. His absence was felt.
That dummy summed up some of the football on display today. Another top performance from the captain.
Two brilliant finishes, and just a top performance with and without the ball.
The first of many and well deserved. Has real star quality.
He only got one assist, but he showed a lot of skill today.
Unreliable. Wouldn’t be surprised if Malacia is recalled at this rate.
Got dispossessed twice after coming on. He’s the most talented of the subs who came on today, but he has to earn his place back in the side.
The only sub who came out looking good.
Had some good moments on the ball, but should’ve done better on Brighton’s second goal.
Champagne football for large parts of the game. There was a swagger about the forwards today. Of course, there were some concerning signs as well. Substitutes are a part of the game, but there are still a couple of players who, even as subs, are putting the side in trouble. Handling this is going to define the season. He’ll have learnt a lot today.
