Israel Bar Association head Attorney Baccar addressed in an interview with ynet the proposed law that would allow postponing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s trial, saying that “there is a difficult campaign against democracy here, and a severe blow to the independence of the judiciary. Netanyahu is bound by a conflict of interest arrangement not to deal with his trial, this is a blatant violation, and it demonstrates his lack of fitness.” According to him, “Beyond the fact that the law will not pass legally, it casts a heavy shadow on Netanyahu’s ability to run the country. He proves that he cannot be both a defendant and a prime minister.”
