Six days on from Des Hasler’s viral blow up at Leichhardt Oval, it was a far more jovial Titans locker room following Gold Coast’s upset win over the Warriors.

The Titans delivered for their coach in what was Hasler’s 500th game as a NRL head coach, although the 64-year-old refused to believe his epic spray last Sunday had anything to do with the team’s turnaround.
“I don’t think it had anything to do with the dressing down at all. They are very proud individuals and that’s the response we want,” Hasler said.

“Really proud of them particularly coming here to Mt Smart, which is a tough place to play.”
The win lifts the Titans off the bottom of the table, although a Souths win on Saturday night would ensure the Gold Coast drop back down to 17th again.
While it’s been another tough year for the Titans and signs are pointing towards Hasler departing the club at season’s end, the veteran coach believes there’s plenty the team can hang their hat on as the 2025 campaign winds down.

“That’s how we want to play the way we’ve been building over the last month. I thought we managed the game with possession,” Hasler said.
“We got through our sets and played really disciplined footy and the difference is that you win games (when you do that).
“We didn’t start that well but maybe that was a good thing, maybe that lulled the Warriors into a bit of insecurity.
“In saying that, I’m just terribly proud of what the players did tonight and we’ll get a bit of confidence out of that now.”
There was a humorous moment during the Titans’ presser when Hasler was asked why his side has the wood over the Warriors.
The Titans have now won three straight against the New Zealand side.
“I’m not going to say anything yet. We have to play them again this season so I’m not going to say anything about that,” Hasler said with a laugh.
