Wolves currently prop up the Premier League table with only two points to their name from nine matches, and three points from their last 13 league games when including the back end of last season.
The West Midlands side’s last five league games have seen defeats to each of the three newly promoted teams, most recently losing 3-2 at home against a Burnley side who were yet to pick up a point away from home prior to Sunday’s trip to Molineux.
Manager Vitor Pereira is now under serious pressure in his job to turn results around, having been given some breathing space earlier this season by signing a new three year contract when the side sat bottom of the table with defeats in their four opening league games.
News broke on Monday night of Brendan Rodgers’ resignation from his role as manager of Celtic following the club’s 3-1 loss at Hearts on Sunday lunchtime which left the defending champions eight points adrift of their league leading opponents.
The Northern Irishman’s decision to leave brought an end to his second spell as manager of the Glasgow side, winning 11 trophies across just over four and a half season at Parkhead across both tenures.
It’s no surprise the 52-year-old is being linked with a move to the Premier League having previously managed Swansea, Liverpool and Leicester, doing stellar jobs at each club and even leading the Foxes to an FA Cup and Community shield title in 2021.

Other names linked with the Molineux hotseat are Sergio Conceicao and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, both priced at 6/1 to be named the next permanent Wolves manager.
It’s not even been three weeks since Conceicao took over as managing the likes of N’Golo Kante, Karim Benzema and Fabinho at Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, but the Portuguese is still being linked with a return to European management in the West Midlands.
The 50-year-old has won trophies as both player and manager, winning league titles in both Portugal and Italy as a winger before winning three league titles with Porto as a manager as well as last season’s Supercoppa Italiana with AC Milan.
Conceicao’s agent is Jorge Mendes, who has long been influential at Wolves, with numerous Portuguese players and managers joining the club as a result of the connection.
Solskjaer is also being linked with a return to Premier League management with the Wolverhampton side, the Norwegian currently being out of a job since his sacking by Turkish side Besiktas in August.
The 52-year-old has previously managed Cardiff and Manchester United in the Premier League, finishing runners up in the league and Europa League with the latter.
