Peters is currently in Stockholm, holding talks with his Swedish counterpart and attending the first-ever New Zealand-Nordic 5 Foreign Ministers Meeting.
Peters’ office said via a New Zealand-based staffer that he was “unaware of the circumstances” surrounding the post.
The Prime Minister’s office has also been approached for comment.
Luxon’s post finished: “Southeast Asia is one of the fastest growing regions in the world. And New Zealand’s future economic prosperity lies here in the Indo-Pacific.
“That’s why I’m proud we are now one of a handful of Asean’s Comprehensive Strategic Partners.”
Luxon has since travelled on to South Korea to attend the Apec forum.
