A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being repeatedly struck with shovels and kicked in the head – in a sustained beating.
Horrific footage has emerged of the torture of the young man, who is seen lying half naked on the ground as he is repeatedly struck over the head in a gruesome attack which took place in the Ballymun area in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Several extremely graphic videos, which gardai are now asking the public not to circulate, have emerged of the moment the man is struck with blunt objects – including a shovel – all over his body and head. The victim can be heard struggling to even speak as he is seen pleading with his attackers to stop striking him.
At one point an attacker can be seen swinging a shovel at full force and landing it on the victim’s head. They also stamp on his head several times.
The victim’s face is seen covered in blood and much of his body is covered in bruises from the prolonged attack. Sources say the incident stems from a personal dispute among criminals in the area and that the beating took place in a yard in St Margaret’s, Ballymun.
In the video the attackers do not speak much but can be heard telling the victim to “get up” and one of them can be heard speaking about a “next time,” and using the words “I’ll kill you stone dead.””
Gardai were alerted to the scene in the early hours of last Saturday morning, where they discovered the victim in a serious condition. He was rushed to the Mater Hospital where his condition remains serious. In a statement to this paper gardai said: “Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault that occurred at St. Margaret’s, Ballymun in the early hours of Saturday morning 25th October, 2025.
“A man, aged in his 20s was seriously assaulted and taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital where he remains in a serious condition. Investigations are ongoing.”
Gardai have also asked members of the public not to circulate the original graphic footage.
