Daly Cherry-Evans will reportedly be unveiled as the Roosters’ marquee signing for the 2026 season next week, with a fresh detail in his contract revealed.
According to Code Sports, the NRL’s worst kept secret will be confirmed once the November 1 deadline passes, with his contract reportedly verbally agreed upon months ago.
Originally Cherry-Evans’ contract was understood to include one year as a player, with a second coming in a mentoring role.

It has now emerged the 36-year-old will have a clause in his contract, worth a reported $600,000 per-season, that could see him extended into the 2027 season.
That decision has led 23-year-old Hugo Savala to go to the open market, being squeezed out of the Tricolours’ halves.
Cherry-Evans will partner Sam Walker under Trent Robinson next year, and unless he accepts a utility role, Savala will have to look elsewhere for regular first grade minutes.

Cherry-Evans shocked the NRL world when he announced in March he would be leaving the Sea Eagles at the end of the season.
For a large part of the season, his contract to sign with the Roosters was considered a formality, with the deal reportedly not being signed to avoid backlash from Manly fans.
