Two men have been air lifted to hospital following a workplace accident on the outskirts of Monaghan Town.
It’s understood the incident occurred on farmland while they were felling trees yesterday afternoon.
Both men who are aged in their 40s were airlifted to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda.
A road in Milltown, Monaghan was closed for a time while emergency services responded to the incident shortly after midday yesterday.
The Health and Safety Authority has confirmed to Northern Sound that they are aware of the incident and an investigation is now underway.
Local councillor, Pauric Clerkin has passed on his best wishes to both men and their family at this difficult time. “I want to extend my very best wishes to the two men involved in yesterday’s serious workplace accident on the outskirts of Monaghan Town.
“I spoke with a family member this morning and understand that one of the men remains in hospital while the other has thankfully been discharged.
“My thoughts are with both men and their families at this difficult time, and I wish them both a full and speedy recovery. I would also like to acknowledge the swift response of the emergency services and all those who assisted at the scene.”
