Judge Jacob Shpaser of the Central District Court in Lod has granted the police appeal regarding the extended possession of Prime Minister’s advisor Jonathan Aurich’s mobile devices as part of the investigation into the “Qatar-gate” affair, returning the case to the Magistrate’s Court under Judge Menachem Mizrachi. While Judge Mizrachi had decided that Aurich’s phones should be returned to him because police did not submit a confidential report, Judge Shpaser wrote: “There is no obligation to submit a confidential report, and if this was important to the Magistrate’s Court, it could have requested the police to prepare one and discuss the application on its merits.”
