A popular snack sold at Coles and Woolworths has been pulled from shelves due to the presence of an undeclared allergen. Muscle Nation Supplements has issued a product recall on Custard Protein Bar Cookies and Cream 60g, available at both grocery stores nationwide for $4.50 and online via Amazon.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) said the recall only applies to those products that have been stocked in a box with a ‘gluten-free’ claim, as this isn’t correct and the product contains gluten. However, the protein bars themselves have the correct labelling.

“Any consumers who have a gluten allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed,” FSANZ said.

The affected products have the best-before dates 08/12/26 and 09/12/26.

Costco product recalled

This comes shortly after a popular brand of pork jerky sold at Costco was recalled after batches were found to contain traces of metal.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) said Golden Island Pork Jerky Korean BBQ Recipe could “cause illness or injury” to consumers.

The Link Foods Australia product is sold exclusively at Costco, which has 15 warehouses around the country and has become a cult favourite for bulk-buying Aussies.
