Once upon a time, there was a prince. A very bad prince. One accused of doing some very bad things. And unlike in fairy tales, he wasn’t punished by having his voice stolen by a sea monster, locked in a tall tower, or frozen in time. No, his punishment was far simpler: he had his title stripped. This is not fiction. This is the real-life nightmare of Prince (well, former) Andrew.

Brother of the current King of England, Charles III, Andrew, now 65, made global headlines on Oct. 30, 2025, when it was announced that his royal title would be removed and that he would be evicted from his current residence, the Royal Lodge in Windsor (it was also recently revealed that he hadn’t paid rent in over 20 years).
Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying that King Charles had “initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles, and Honours” of his younger brother.

So, why did this all happen? Andrew, who will now be referred to as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, according to palace officials, found himself in this situation due to his lengthy association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died in prison in 2019. Andrew was also accused of sexual assault in 2014 by Virginia Giuffre, who died in April 2025. She was 17 when she stated the crime took place.
While media coverage and gossip rags have circulated these whispers for years, a tell-all book published in August 2025 seems to have predicted this outcome. Titled Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, this 362-page hardcover by Andrew Lownie documents decades of Andrew’s (and even his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson’s) dark dealings.
“Entitled presents an unvarnished and meticulously researched account of two of the most controversial figures in modern royal history. Based on years of investigation, extensive Freedom of Information requests, and more than a hundred interviews with previously silent sources, acclaimed royal expert Andrew Lownie delivers an authoritative and deeply revealing dual portrait of the Duke and Duchess, whose lives and relationship have been marked by privilege, controversy, and public fascination,” the Amazon description notes.

To take it a step further, A BBC article by royal correspondent, Sean Coughlan, notes, “Lownie’s book offers meticulous detail of the connections between Prince Andrew and the US financier and sex offender (referring to Epstein), establishing links that go back to the early 1990s — earlier than previously known,” he says. “The book also highlights the unbalanced nature of their relationship, with one friend describing Andrew’s dealings with Epstein as ‘like putting a rattlesnake in an aquarium with a mouse.’”
Although the infamous Epstein Files (which list all of Epstein’s high-profile “clients”) have yet to be released, Lownie’s book gives you a behind-closed-doors look at how Andrew became a key part of Epstein’s life — and ultimately, how he ended up where he is today: titless, dishonored, and shooed away from royal digs.
The book has received hundreds of five-star reviews on Amazon, with readers praising its direct, no-nonsense style.
While Andrew has lost his title, his daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, are allowed to retain their royal names.
