Warrington announced Pangai Jr’s impending arrival in July, with the former NRL forward signing a one-year contract after his first season in the Super League playing for the Catalans Dragons.
However, in a twist, it was later confirmed by the club in a statement on Friday that Pangai Jr will no longer be playing for the Wolves.
Warrington said that while “disappointed”, it “accepts his decision” and went on to add that it remains “committed to building a squad of players who are fully invested in the club and its ambitions”.
Pangai Jr’s immediate playing future is unclear at this point, with the 29-year-old now without a contract after nine years in the NRL with the Broncos, Panthers, Bulldogs and Dolphins.
