Wilfried Nancy is reportedly “under consideration” for the Celtic job as the club draw up a shortlist for their new boss.

It was been a whirlwind week for the Hoops after the explosive departure of Brendan Rodgers with legendary gaffer Martin O’Neill returning to the dugout on an interim basis.

After back-to-back defeats, O’Neill steered the club to a 4-0 win over Falkirk on Wednesday and is now preparing the Celtic players for the Premier Sports Cup semi-final clash with Rangers this weekend.

But the search for a permanent successor to Rodgers is ramping up, with The Telegraph reporting the Columbus Crew boss is on the “initial shortlist of possible candidates”.

The Columbus Crew boss has earned acclaim for his playing style and has been tipped for a return to Europe, also while being championed on the Hotline.

The Frenchman won the MLS Cup in 2023 having previously taken CF Montréal to the Concacaf Champions League in his first managerial job, and was named Coach of the Year last season.

Robbie Keane is also on the shortlist but it is noted that it remains “unknown” how much compensation would be due to Ferencvaros – who he led to the Hungarian title last season.

Asked about interest from Celtic before this weekend’s clash with FC Cincinnati, Nancy said: “I have nothing to say regarding that.

“We have a game to play, I have nothing to say regarding this situation. It happens a lot, with a lot of humidity, so I cannot comment on any rumours.”

It is noted that Kieran McKenna is not “expected” to leave Ipswich Town for Glasgow’s east end – while speculation over the return of Ange Postecoglou appears to have cooled after emerged as the early frontrunner.

it is claimed that the Australian is planning to take time out of the game after a disastrous 39-day spell at Nottingham Forest.

But reports in Italy suggest that Posteocoglou’s resolve could be tested by Genoa, with Football Italia claiming the 60-year-old is on the radar of the Serie A side should they axe Patrick Vieira.
