The taronja team triumphed over Dubai in a thrilling, down-to-the-wire ending
By Eurohoops team / info@eurohoops.net
It was a clash of newcomers in this season’s Euroleague. And the ending favoured the home team.
After defeating Fenerbahce, Valencia Basket completed a perfect double-round week, winning the game against Dubai BC 80-78.
It is the opposite story for Dubai, which finishes its Spanish trip with two losses after losing also against Baskonia.
Kam Taylor (19 points) and Omari Moore (15 points) led the Taronja team in scoring.
Filip Petrusev (17) and Boogie Ellis (18) were the away team’s top scorers.
It was a very evenly matched game throughout the 40 minutes. So much, that it was decided on the final play. After an exchange of baskets, Omari Moore gave Valencia Basket the lead, but Dubai still had the last word.
With 20 seconds left, the ball was in the visitors’ hands, but Bacon’s three-pointer didn’t go in… yet that wasn’t the end of it.
An offensive foul by Costello after the rebound gave Dubai a glimmer of hope, but Bertans’ desperate three-pointer with 0.3 seconds left wasn’t good, and the victory stayed at the Roig Arena.
